More service for customers of Lenzing Through its office in Coimbatore, Lenzing is offering its customers more service. A professional team comprising marketing experts, technicians and merchandisers is supporting Indian textile processors with the marketing of products of Lenzing fibers. The team from Coimbatore can resort to an international network since Lenzing runs other offices in the most important sales markets. Moreover merchandising plays an important role. „ A central task of our team is to support the brand manufacturers who source their products in India. We help to find the right fabrics of Lenzing fibers for the respective applications and thus offer international buyers vital support“, Jayaraman, head of the Lenzing office in Coimbatore, explains. India – an important textile market Since the 70’s, textile exports in India have increased 270 times over. Reputed brands such as Gap, Banana Republic, Nike, Liz Clairborne and many more have established Sourcing-Offices in India and make use of the traditional Indian textile market for the production of their goods. „Thus for Lenzing is is a logical step to follow our customers - since many of the brand manufacturers are already indirectly our customers - and ensure the optimum supply of the textile chain with fibers at Indian producers“, Weninger explains. Another argument in favour of greater commitment in India is the forecasted two-digit economic growth rate and the constant growth of the population and the increase in the level of income. This development will increase the future textile consumption per capita and thus the consumption of fibers in the domestic market and will make India an interesting sales market for fibers from Lenzing.
High quality cellulose fibers Lenzing Fibers offers all of its cellulose fiber generations in India: Lenzing Viscose®, Lenzing Modal®, MicroModal® and TENCEL® as well as Lenzing FR® - a flame-resistant fiber.
Lenzing Modal® has already established itself in the Indian market and is used in cotton blends for clothing and home textiles. A blend of MicroModal® and silk was specially developed for the Indian market. This material is used in saris and gives fabrics an exclusive softness. The latest cellulose fiber TENCEL® is used in the casual sector and in home textiles for bed linen. TENCEL® is mostly used in wovens where its characteristic can be seen best: soft flowing drape, unique wearable comfort and perfect skin-sensoric properties.
The branded fibers from Lenzing are already widely applied in India and are a persuasive force thanks to their excellent quality and good processing. Likewise the high international brand awareness of Lenzing fibers is an important criterion for the decision to buy a garment out of Lenzing fibers. Lenzing fiber brands are internationally protected by trademark law and they stand for the highest quality. The brand programme is supported by a label service. This is based on a complex certification system for fabrics which makes it possible to trace the entire textile chain and intervene in the event of the abuse of a brand. Test purchases are carried out around the world to inspect the quality of produts of Lenzing fibers and check whether the trademark laws have been violated.
Lenzing Fiber Plant in India as of 2010/11 The Lenzing group is erecting a new viscose fiber production plant in India together with the Indian Modi group. It is planned that the Lenzing factory will commence production after a two-year construction period in 2010/11. Lenzing is erecting the most modern viscose fiber factories in the world in India and will employ the latest fiber technology with high environmental standards.
Lenzing customers currently have to pay high import duties for Lenzing fibers. At the moment the Indian Viscose fiber market is only supplied by one single local producer. This has a detrimental effect on growth in this branch „With Lenzing we expect a substantial improvement in supply in the rapidly growing Indian textile and non-wovens industry with high-quality fibers. Indian industry will considerably benefit from intensified Lenzing presence in India“, Weninger comments.
